Mónica Rovelo
Monica Rovelo is the Founder of “Valor Sostenible”.
A self-taught & tireless researcher, Mónica has a well-known trajectory in the world of communities, private and official sectors, and is recognized as one of the best qualified experts in her endeavours. It is her opinion that no two cases are the same and that each project deserves thorough study and examination as to find interactions and impacts among communities, corporations and the environment.
She has coordinated 71 major Impact Evaluations & Social Feasibility Studies in practically all states of Mexico; she generated the necessary materials for five Indigenous Consultations and documented the first successful national Indigenous Consultation after the huge Energetic Reform in Mexico. She was an important was in the elaboration of the Law for Indigenous Consultation for mining activities in Mexico. In 2008 she gets recognition from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and the National Science and Technology Council for her work “Strategic Planning”; and in 2010 a Diploma with special honours for her work with the paper “The right practice in documenting the good practices” in the !st National Forum of good practices organized by the World Health Organization (WHO); in 2014 she creates a new version of the “Programa de Apoyo a Comunidades y Medio Ambiente” (PACMA), awarded by the Banco Mundial (WB) and the “Transparencia Mexicana” NGO. She has been widely recognized by clients and communities and her work is highly appreciated.
Mónica majored in Economics at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM); she attended courses on Development Banking held by the “Asociación Latinoamericana de Instituciones Financieras de Desarrollo” and the “Instituto de Desarrollo Económico” of the World Bank. Obtained a Diploma in the “Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México” (ITAM); did an on-line “Master’s Degree” on Social Intervention. But Beyond her Academic Credentials she States tea the best school is reality itself: “the people I have worked with —peasants, fishermen, entrepreneurs, workers, researchers, be them women or men— are the best academics, the wisest books, and my Direct teachers.
